Frequently asked questions

How much does Form 3520 preparation cost?

Our Form 3520 preparation fee is a flat $300. This price applies whether you need to report a foreign gift or inheritance, a foreign trust distribution, or ownership of a foreign trust. If Form 3520-A is required, we prepare it at no additional charge. We do not charge more based on the complexity of the Form 3520 filing.

Is Form 3520 filed with my tax return?

No. Form 3520 is an informational return that is filed separately from Form 1040. Although its filing deadline is generally tied to your income tax return deadline, it is submitted separately to the IRS.

Do I need to report multiple gifts separately?

No. You must report all gifts from the same foreign person or related parties in aggregate if the total exceeds the filing threshold during the year.

How will I know what information you need from me?

Once you sign up, we’ll provide a clear checklist of the documents and details required—including gift amounts, dates received, and any documentation you may have from the sender or trust.

How is Form 3520 filed with the IRS?

Form 3520 is filed separately from your Form 1040, even though its deadline is generally tied to your income tax return deadline. We prepare the complete Form 3520 package and provide clear instructions for submitting it to the correct IRS address. If needed, we can also assist with mailing it on your behalf.
